An Ice Cream Idea That Disrupted an Industry

Ice Cream is one of our favorite comfort foods. It can make us happy by thinking of happy summer days as kids, waiting for the ice cream truck to round the bend. We think of parties and celebrations. Vacations and beach days. It’s also our favorite late night (in front of the tv) treat!

You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that is pretty much the same thing.


But……. as we all know ……. it’s hard to only have a little bit. Even Jerry Greenfield (the Jerry of Ben & Jerry’s) knows how hard it can be….

Ben & Jerry’s is an indulgent dessert that should be eaten in moderation. You should not be replacing more than one meal a day with ice cream. We do not consider a pint or a tub of ice cream to be a single serving.

Then along came 2 ex-lawyers ready to disrupt the heavy, caloric, sugar-filled ice cream industry…. And along came HALO TOP . Halo Top creates light ice cream that has fewer calories (between 280-360 calories per pint), less sugar, and higher protein than traditional ice cream. The company is also now offering dairy-free flavors.

In 2018, Halo Top did $347.3 million in sales, according to the company and within two year, the company was purchased by Wells Enterprises
